This menu is a heartfelt tribute to the culinary vision of Mr Kawaguchi Shuichiro, former Japanese Ambassador to Mauritius, whose deep-rooted passion for traditional Japanese cuisine helped shape Haiku’s identity.

Guided by his expertise and appreciation for authenticity, our Washoku selection reflects the essence of Japanese home-style dining: seasonal, balanced, and deeply respectful of nature’s rhythm. In honour of this philosophy, he also incorporates select Mauritian ingredients into certain dishes, creating a refined bridge between Japanese tradition and local terroir. Each plate is prepared with care and intention, offering a quiet moment of harmony and cultural connection.
